Larkin and Lacey: Improving the Way that Frontera Fund Distributes Resources

Larkin and Lacey are two reporters that were targeted by Joe Arpaio. They have contributed a lot of financial resources towards the Frontera Fund that advocates for mexican immigrant labor as well as migrant workers throughout the state of Arizona.

There have been numerous injustices to the way that Lacey and Larkin were treated by Joe Arpaio’s orders. After their publications about a federal court case, Arpaio incarcerated both reporters in separate mexican facilities. The goal of his endeavors did not succeed or provide positive results, as Larkin and Lacey later sued the state and received a 3.75 million dollar settlement due to the atrocities.

Joe Arpaio has been a sheriff with one of the worst reputations. He has consistently performed negative operations and has even enacted a special task force dedicated to changing the way that people are treated.

He also has a legacy of targeting migrant workers as well as other members of society. His negative attitudes and vindictive missions have often been to slight other political figures or rivals.

There are a lot of problems with the way that Joe Arpaio acts as well as differences in the way that he uses power. Despite the horrible short comings of his reign, Donald Trump had provided a presidential pardon for Arpaio. This was on account of him being a major supporter for the former presidential candidate prior to receiving the GOP nomination. Read more: Jim Larkin | LinkedIn

Supporting Trump at this influential time in the election ultimately led to Trump gaining the position. Because of this support, Donald Trump has pardoned the behavior of Arpaio, even though many opposition forces do not agree with the decision.

Overall there are a lot of reasons that civil liberties continue to be challenged in the state of Arizona. Not only has Arpaio changed the way that mexicans and migrant workers perceive their rights, but he has also set a negative precedence with his actions and short comings.

The Frontera Fund was started with the funds that Lacey and Larkin had accumulated from their settlement. This fund will continue to address the atrocities that Arpaio committed. It will also stand for the rights of those who are interested in supporting migrant workers and their families.

Since so many families and people are affected by civil liberties challenges, it is important that the Frontera Fund continue on its mission to support and encourage those who have faced adversity. Lacey and Larkin’s contributions have improved the way that organizations perform as well as the fundamental aspects of their work.

Not only are there a lot of opportunities for engagement and support throughout the legal process, but the Frontera Fund can also gain leverage in light of the atrocities that have been permitted by Arpaio.

Not only has Arpaio set a precedence that must be overcome. With careful attention to detail, initiative and support from the community as well as the long standing goals of the Frontera Fund it is possible to gain leverage and change the way that immigrants are treated and work.
